VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED FOR MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION

We are seeking your help in serving as a judge for the 2006 Nebraska High School Mock Trial Competition on the following dates:

First Round Thursday, October 19th at 6:00 p.m.
Second Round Thursday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m.
Third Round Monday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m.
Championship Round Tuesday, November 7th at 6:00 p.m.

The competition will be held in the District Courtrooms of Lancaster County located on the 3rd floor in the Justice and Law Enforcement Center, 575 South 10th Street. The competition will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and should be concluded by 8:30 p.m.

If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail spillen@remboltludtke.com or dbargen@remboltludtke.com and designate the date you would like to volunteer and whether you prefer to serve as a performance judge, presiding judge, or one of each for different trials. We would appreciate your prompt response. Upon receiving your e-mail, we will mail a confirmation letter setting forth the details of the competition, a copy of the bench brief, and the scoring sheets.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you in advance for your willingness to take time in helping make this competition a successful and positive experience for these participating high school students.

DOUGLAS COUNTY JUROR APPRECIATION WEEK

On October 16th at 12:00 p.m. in the Juror Assembly Room of the Hall of Justice, Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey and Douglas County Commissioner Kyle Hutchings will be signing a joint proclamation declaring October 16th through October 20th, Juror Appreciation Week in Douglas County. The proclamation signing is part of a statewide campaign being undertaken to thank jurors for their contribution to the justice system and to promote the representation of people from every ethnicity, race, religion and economic background on our juries.
