NEBRASKA SUPREME
COURT TECHNOLOGY SUBCOMMITTEE TO SURVEY BAR
The Courtroom Enhancement Subcommittee will soon be sending
a short e-mail survey to the members of the bar association.
The survey is designed to help focus the efforts of the Subcommittee's
future projects. It will provide the Bench and the practicing
Bar with an opportunity for input on "Courtroom technology" and
associated issues.
Please take the time to respond to the survey -- it is designed
to be completed in 3-4 minutes.
This subcommittee is a part of the Supreme Court's Technology
Committee chaired by Judge William Cassel.

2006 BLUEJAY
OPEN MOCK TRIAL TOURNAMENT
Creighton University hosted its first undergraduate
Mock Trial tournament last year (The Bluejay Open). It was extremely
successful and would not have been so if it had not been for
our judges. We have decided to make this an annual event. Again
we are in need of judges. This tournament is highly competitive
with teams from almost 40 schools across the country.
This year we have two opportunities for attorneys to help us
judge. I know that many judge at the high school level in Nebraska
and I encourage you to see it at the college level. It is a great
learning experience for all of us and hearing how attorneys think
we are doing is very important to us.
On Saturday, October 28, Creighton hopes to have a small scrimmage
with Iowa State and UNL. This will more than likely be a two-round
event starting at 9 am. We will also serve lunch for this event.
This is a great opportunity for our schools to get together for
practice in order to better prepare for upcoming tournaments.
Also, On December
1 & 2, The CU Undergraduate Mock Trial
Team will be hosting our 4-round tournament. We are looking for
lawyers to volunteer to judge. This will include a brief orientation
on the American Mock Trial Association's judging rules and requirements.
Below you will find a schedule. We will have snacks at all the
rounds and lunch on Saturday. Also, the rounds will probably
end early, but they cannot end later than the times specified.
If you are interested please send an e-mail to Suzie Lear at
mocktrial2@creighton.edu. You can also use that e-mail address
for any questions you might have. In your e-mail please include
your contact information and what times you are available.
This year's case is a civil case and you can find a summary
at http://www.collegemocktrial.org/mock/current.php.
Please pass this on to your friends that might be interested!!
Thank you,
Suzie Lear, President
