Using the “proximity” pull-down
menu in the advanced search
Another option in the advanced search screen is the “proximity” pull-down menu, which allows you to narrow your search. The default proximity is “document,” meaning that as long as all of your key words or phrases appear somewhere in the document, that document will be one of your results.
Proximity allows you to narrow your search so your key words appear in closer proximity to one another within the document. You can choose from the list of proximity options below. 1,000 characters and 500 characters are similar to large and medium sized paragraphs, respectively.
The “sentence” option finds cases where your key words appear in the same sentence.
